Discover a Relaxing Approach to Abstract Art Creation!

Are you looking for a stress-free way to explore your creativity? This class unveils a favorite technique for creating beautiful abstract paintings without the pressure of striving for perfection. Tired of staring at a blank canvas and feeling discouraged? This method shifts your focus from the outcome to the process, fostering a more enjoyable and rewarding art practice.

This technique is perfect for all skill levels, whether you're a beginner eager to experiment or an experienced artist looking for a fresh approach. It's ideal for art experimentation, learning your materials, and exploring new color palettes. You'll leave feeling pleased with your work, ready to create more!

This class is for you if:

  • You're eager to learn new art techniques.
  • You're drawn to abstract painting.
  • You love art supply experimentation.
  • You enjoy observing different painting practices.

Supplies You Likely Already Have!

The beauty of this technique is its adaptability. You don't need to buy a ton of new supplies. Focus on what you have and let your creativity flow. Here's a list of suggested materials:

  • Watercolor Paper: Cold press or hot press, at least 140lb weight. Oil or acrylic paper also works well (I use 138lb).
  • Ceramic Paint Palette: (Optional) I showcase options from Sylvan Clayworks and Sugarhouse Ceramic Co. – but you can use anything for holding your paints!
  • Paintbrushes & Mark-Making Tools: A variety to explore different textures and effects.
  • Paints: Acrylics are what I use in this class, but watercolors, oils, inks – the possibilities are endless!
  • Soft Pastels: (Optional) Pick your favorite colors to add depth and texture.
  • Neocolor II Crayons: Water-soluble and fantastic for vibrant color!
  • Disposable Gloves: Essential if working with potentially toxic art supplies.
  • Stabilo Black Pencil & Posca Pen: For creating precise marks and details.
  • Cradled Boards: (Optional) For mounting your finished pieces.
  • Finishing Spray: (Optional) To protect your artwork.

Don't feel pressured to buy anything new! This project is about embracing what you have and letting go of expectations. Join me and let's create something wonderful! I can't wait to see your unique abstract art pieces!
