Get ready to embrace the beauty of winter with this engaging painting class! Learn to create stunning depth and texture using a combination of watercolor and gouache techniques. This modular class allows you to progress at your own pace – perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. You can focus on creating beautiful gift tags, unique gift card toppers, or framed artwork, or explore the full process.
Discover how to achieve a captivating sense of depth through these key painting techniques:
- Cool & Warm Color Theory: Utilize cool colors (like those in the Rowan leaves and blue berries) to create a sense of recession, while warm colors (warm Green Gold & bright Red berries) come forward, adding vibrancy.
- Paint Value: Build layers with varying paint consistencies – starting with watery mixes for the base leaves and gradually increasing thickness for textural brushstrokes.
- Layering: Gently overlap previous layers to create depth and visual interest.
We'll explore maintaining a balanced composition, allowing each element to shine without overwhelming the others – a true "merry dance" of color and form. You'll be creating depth by focusing on:
- Background: Cool green Rowan leaves.
- Middle Ground: Sloe Berries & Christmas Roses.
- Foreground: Cheery red Rowan berries.
This class is designed to be flexible! You can paint it using Watercolour, Gouache, or a beautiful combination of both.
