Expand Your Reach: Online Training for Overseas Confucian Classics Education

Following successful reading instruction tours in Europe and North America during the autumn of Jiawu year and spring of Yiwèi year, featuring esteemed teacher Ji Qian, the International Confucian Classics Education Promotion Center is launching a comprehensive online training program. This initiative supports the growing network of overseas reading schools and classes established by enthusiastic individuals.

This online course, utilizing the GoToMeeting platform, is designed for overseas reading school administrators, teachers, and parents. Learn from experienced educators and private school heads from both China and abroad. The nine-session course will run once a week, on Saturday evenings at 10:00 PM Beijing time (4:00 PM CET, 10:00 AM EST, 7:00 AM PST). Each session will last approximately 1.5-2 hours, providing in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge. Recordings and PPT materials will be available for those unable to attend live.

Course Schedule:

• May 2nd: The Past, Present, and Future of Chinese Education Abroad. Explore the history of Confucian classics education overseas and its relevance today. Featuring Yang Mei (Hamburg Zhi Qian Academy, German Association of Chinese Classics Culture).
• May 9th: Reading Methods in Confucian Classics Education. Covering reading order, techniques, parent-child reading, and classroom implementation. Instructors: Zheng Yanyan (Paris Yuan Cheng Academy), Li Weixia (Mühlheim Tong Qian Academy, Germany).
• May 16th: Effective & Intensive Reading Strategies. Learn advanced methods for maximizing reading comprehension. Instructors: Zhao Boyi (Zai Qian Academy), Li Weixia, Zheng Yanyan, Yang Mei.
• May 23rd: An Overview of Traditional Chinese Private Schools & Early Childhood Reading. Discover the foundations of traditional education and its connection to early reading development. Instructor: Fang Zhe Xuan ("Reading Classics" Magazine, Le Qian Academy).
• May 30th: The Mindset of Confucian Classics Education. Explore the core principles and philosophy behind effective instruction. Instructor: Cheng Yunfeng (Guangdong Mingde Hall).
• June 6th: Embodying the Spirit of Ancestors: Teaching Experiences from Taiwan. Gain insights from a successful Taiwanese reading school. Instructor: Zhang Lihua (Taipei Da Qian Reading Academy).
• June 13th: 1. Drawing from Ancient Private School Traditions (1 hour) 2. Why Ancient Chinese Private Schools Didn't Start with the Analects (30 minutes). Understanding the historical context and pedagogical choices of traditional education. Instructors: Wu Xiaodong (Thousand Person Calligraphy Academy), Xu Longfei (Beijing Opera Academy).
• June 20th: Reading, Literacy, Writing, and the Relationship to Early Education. Explore the connection between Confucian classics education and foundational skills. Instructors: Yang Mei, Zheng Yanyan, Li Weixia.
• June 27th: Q&A: Overseas Confucian Classics Education. A forum for addressing questions and sharing best practices. Instructors: Mr. Wang Caigui, Yang Mei, Zheng Yanyan, Jia Le.
