MikroTik: Learn the Fundamentals of Router Configuration

MikroTik, a Latvian company established in 1996, has become a leading provider of networking hardware and software, particularly for Internet connectivity. They specialize in wireless ISP systems and have a global presence, supplying solutions to numerous countries. MikroTik's expertise lies in leveraging standard PC hardware and developing comprehensive routing systems. This led to the creation of RouterOS in 1997, a powerful and versatile software platform offering exceptional stability, control, and flexibility across diverse data interfaces and routing needs. In 2002, MikroTik launched RouterBOARD (RB), their own line of hardware.

A key advantage of MikroTik devices is the consistent configuration interface across the entire Routerboard range. This means that the knowledge gained configuring a basic hardware unit is directly applicable, even for large organizations.

This course provides a foundational understanding of router configuration. Upon completion, you will be able to:

• Access your MikroTik Routerboard (RB)
• Configure WAN connections: Learn to set up PPPoE client, DHCP client, and static IP configurations for your wide area network.
• Configure LAN settings for your local network.
• Implement NAT (Network Address Translation) to share a single internet connection among multiple devices.

Important Note: This course focuses on basic router setup for a simple network. Advanced topics such as Quality of Service (QoS), security configurations, limitations, and blocking are not covered. This course provides a direct and fundamental introduction to getting your router up and running.
