Learning Bokator (Cambodian Ancient Martial Art)

Discover the Ancient Art of Bokator: A Cambodian Martial Tradition

Uncover the secrets of Bokator, an ancient Khmer martial art steeped in history and combat prowess. Known as "fight with a lion," Bokator was a cornerstone of the Khmer Empire's military might, instrumental in their dominance of Southeast Asia for over 800 years. Evidence of this powerful fighting style can still be found in the carvings adorning temples like Angkor Wat.

For centuries, Bokator faced near extinction, surviving only through a handful of dedicated teachers and students. Tragically, the Khmer Rouge regime targeted and eliminated practitioners of Bokator, along with other vital cultural expressions like traditional dance, music, and singing. Later, Vietnamese leadership further suppressed the art form.
