Kung Fu Shaolin Staff - Level 1

Unlock the Foundations of Shaolin Weaponry: A Beginner's Guide to the Staff (Gun)

Ready to explore the rich tradition of Shaolin martial arts? This introductory class is the perfect starting point, designed for all skill levels – even those with experience in other martial arts like Karate or Tae Kwon Do! No prior knowledge is required.

This lesson focuses on the staff (gun), revered as the "Grandparent of Weapons" in Shaolin Kung Fu. It's the foundational weapon, essential for anyone looking to progress within the Shaolin Wu Tao Program. Whether you're new to Shaolin or seeking to expand your weapon skills, this is a must-take class.

Why is the staff so important? According to Shaolin tradition, the learning progression is:

• Quan (Boxing): The initial focus.
• Gun (Staff): The very first weapon students learn.
• Dao (Saber)
• Jian (Sword)
• Qiang (Spear)
• Da-dao (Halberd)

The staff is the first and most studied weapon in the Shaolin curriculum, providing a solid base for mastering all subsequent weapons. Understanding the staff provides crucial insights into the principles and techniques that underpin the entire Shaolin weapon system.

As I always emphasize on the Tenkaichi Podcast: train always, train good! Practice safely and enjoy this journey into the heart of Shaolin martial arts.
