Discover the captivating world of ink florals in this engaging art class! Explore the incredible versatility of ink as you create dynamic floral and greenery compositions. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced artist, this course is designed to guide you through the fundamentals of working with ink.

Learn to harness movement and texture through a combination of ink washes, precise detailing, and varying line weights. You'll master techniques for simplifying complex flowers into elegant, effortless strokes. This class focuses on building confidence and developing your unique style with this beautiful medium.

What you'll create: Your final project will consist of two ink floral compositions, allowing you to experiment and refine your skills. Plus, access to additional resources will provide inspiration and ideas for incorporating these techniques into your ongoing artistic practice.

Materials Needed:

  • Paper: Choose paper with a weight of 100lb or higher. Watercolor paper is a great option. I use basic drawing paper, but Legion Strathmore paper or Arches paper are excellent choices for added body and durability. Consider the paper texture: cold press has a toothy surface, while hot press is smoother.
  • Ink: Use India Ink (like Blick Black Cat ink or Winsor and Newton Black Indian Ink) for a classic, durable black. Alternatively, India Ink alternatives like Parker Quink (which has subtle blue undertones when washed) can be used. Don't worry about finding "true" India Ink; any ink you have will work!
  • Brush: A round size 8 brush is recommended. I use the Black Velvet brush by Silver Brush.
  • Other: A cup of water and a paper towel.

This class is perfect for anyone eager to explore the expressive potential of ink painting and create stunning floral artwork.
