Discover the ancient art of Hojojutsu at LOTSWild and Riverside MA in western North Carolina! This course delves into level one of our curriculum, exploring tactical ties, knots, and restraints – the flexible tools of the ninja. Learn to adapt, improvise, and integrate self-defense techniques into everyday items like your clothing.

This practical training isn't just for martial artists. Hikers, backpackers, adventurers, historians, and those seeking new skills (especially those who were homebound during the pandemic) will find this course incredibly beneficial.

Safety is our top priority. We emphasize boundaries, consent, and the appropriate materials for training. Crucially, we never teach neck ties or holds. Hojojutsu requires a clear mind and body, free from the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Hojojutsu boasts a rich history as the original handcuffing method used by police in ancient Japan, predating modern steel restraints. Understanding restraining techniques is vital, and this course also focuses on escape strategies. Learn non-violent methods to safely control a situation until help arrives or to gain freedom without causing serious harm.

This modern practice enhances any martial arts curriculum and is a core component of authentic Ninjutsu. Personal instruction is highly recommended.

This class is just one of many offered at Land of the Sky Wilderness School. We offer campground stays throughout the year and hold regular weekly classes at Riverside Martial Arts.
