Expand Your Comfort Zone with Mixed Media and Acrylic Gouache

Ready to Unleash Your Creativity? A Beginner's Guide to Mixed Media Art!

Ever feel overwhelmed by a new art supply haul? You walk into the art store, brimming with excitement over fresh paints, pens, and pencils. But then… the blank page stares back, and the fear creeps in. Where do you even begin? Worried about making mistakes? You're not alone! Many aspiring artists find themselves putting their supplies away, waiting for a moment of "bravery" or "freedom."

I've been there. Throughout my own illustration journey, I discovered the power of creating a safe space to experiment – a place where making a mess and embracing imperfections is encouraged. And that journey started with Acrylic Gouache, a fantastic medium for mixed media.

In this class, I'll share my approach to mixed media art – one rooted in curiosity, observation, and nurturing your creative spirit. We'll embark on 7 exciting mixed media adventures, each dedicated to a different material and its unique properties.

Each adventure will follow simple prompts designed to uncover the secrets of each new medium. You'll apply what you learn to a small, quick project, building confidence and exploring possibilities.

This isn't about mastering complex techniques. It's about honing your observational skills and learning to respond to what you see. We'll focus on sparking excitement for new materials and empowering you to confidently take those exciting supplies out of the drawer and into your next painting! Perfect for beginner artists looking to explore art materials and discover the joy of mixed media painting.
