Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Understanding and Boosting Your "Heart Intelligence"

Hello! I'm Kujiraoka, your instructor. Today, we're diving into Emotional Intelligence (EQ), also known as the "heart intelligence." This concept gained traction nearly 30 years ago, and its importance is more relevant than ever in today's rapidly evolving world.

While generative AI technologies are making headlines, recent discussions around psychological safety, employee engagement, harassment, and mental health highlight a growing need to focus on human emotions. It seems we're increasingly overlooking the significance of understanding and managing our own feelings and those of others.

Research indicates that unlike IQ, which is largely determined by genetics, EQ can be developed and improved throughout life. Successful individuals consistently demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills. This involves not only understanding and managing your own emotional state, but also accurately perceiving the emotions of those around you.

In this era, it's crucial to re-examine our emotional well-being and cultivate greater emotional sensitivity. Remember, the key to unlocking your potential lies within.
