Elevate your encaustic painting with the exciting fusion of screen printing! This intermediate-level class (perfect for adventurous beginners) guides you through the process of seamlessly integrating silkscreen techniques into your encaustic art. Discover how to create stunning designs on your encaustic paintings without breaking the bank. Learn to print directly onto your encaustic surface or indirectly using paper or fabric prints.

Here's what you'll need to get started:

• Encaustic painting or prepared encaustic panel
• Silkscreen – Learn to create a simple, cost-effective screen using mat board and polyester organza (materials readily available at art and fabric stores!)
• Oil-based ink: We recommend water-soluble oil-based printmaking ink like Speedball fabric block printing ink or Charbonnel Aqua Wash etching ink for vibrant results.
• Squeegee: Utilize a squeegee or a card (like an old license or credit card) to evenly spread ink through the screen printing frame.
• Sheer Paper: Experiment with sheer paper such as Japanese Rice Paper (Sumi Drawing paper) for direct printing.
• Sheer Fabric: Explore printing onto sheer fabric like polyester organza for unique textures and effects.
