Unlock Accurate Drawing with Tracing Techniques

Discover how tracing can be a powerful tool to improve your drawing skills, especially for detailed subjects like portrait drawing. Many old master artists relied on tracing to achieve precise form and shape in their artwork. This technique can significantly accelerate your progress, particularly when accuracy is paramount.

In today’s digital landscape, tracing tools are readily available. The Paintology app offers a unique traced mode that reimagines this traditional method. Beyond simple tracing, Paintology's traced mode allows you to select and utilize tones from your reference image. This is crucial for understanding and mastering tones, a fundamental aspect of creating compelling and realistic drawings.

In this drawing exercise, you'll practice drawing a bowl of cherries while simultaneously developing your overall drawing techniques.
