DACA Training Course Access Packet

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, initiated in 2012 by the Obama administration, offers crucial temporary protection to eligible undocumented immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as children. These individuals, widely known as "Dreamers," gain temporary relief from deportation and the opportunity to obtain work authorization.

To qualify for DACA, applicants must meet specific requirements, including:

• Arriving in the U.S. before their 16th birthday.
• Residing continuously in the U.S. since June 15, 2007.
• Maintaining a clean criminal record.

It's important to understand that DACA doesn't provide permanent legal status. However, it empowers recipients to pursue educational and career advancements, fostering their contributions to communities and the U.S. economy. For many, DACA represents a vital opportunity to build a future in the country they've grown up in, free from the constant worry of deportation.

The DACA program has encountered significant legal and political hurdles, creating ongoing uncertainty for those who benefit from it and underscoring the complex discussions surrounding immigration reform in the United States.
