Krav Maga, literally translating to "contact fighting/close combat," is a practical self-defense system. It's built by extracting and simplifying movements and techniques from martial arts and combat sports. The goal? To create the most straightforward and effective method for personal protection.

Born in the first half of the 20th century, Krav Maga originated with Imi Lichtenfeld, an Israeli army officer. He developed the system at the request of the Israeli government. The need was to create a rapid-to-learn, yet highly effective combat system to train the newly formed Israeli Defense Forces.

A key characteristic of Krav Maga techniques is their immediate learnability, fast execution, and emphasis on exploiting the element of surprise.
