• Character Expression: Go beyond basic movements and learn to convey a wide range of emotions – joy, sadness, anger, surprise, and more – through subtle facial expressions.
• Emotional Acting: Understand how context, personality, and situation influence how a character expresses themselves. Learn to imbue your characters with unique personalities and make them relatable.
• Facial Mechanics: Master the intricacies of eye movement, eyebrows, lips, tongue, and teeth to create believable and engaging animation.
• Head & Body Integration: Learn how the head, shoulders, and body work together to enhance facial expressions and create dynamic performances.
• Performance & Refinement: Develop the ability to create compelling scenes that resonate with viewers and leave a lasting impression.

Course Structure & Assignments:

This course is designed to provide hands-on experience with practical assignments:

• Week 1-2: Eye Movement Focus – Precise, controlled eye movements (250 frames) with a static head.
• Week 3-4: Emotional Expression – Animating a short clip with a voiceover, focusing on conveying a specific emotion.
• Week 5-8: Full Facial Performance – Animating a complete scene with a character exhibiting a specific emotional state, incorporating body language and interaction. Reference material and performance studies are encouraged.
• Final 3 Weeks: Complete Scene Animation – Produce a polished, demo-reel-ready animation showcasing mastery of all learned techniques.

Prerequisites:

• Proficiency in 3D software, with Maya recommended.
• Solid understanding of computer basics.
• Prior experience with body animation is highly recommended (completion of previous levels preferred).

Next Steps:

Upon completion of this course, you'll be ready to move on to the next level, which focuses on full body animation in dramatic scenes, integrating mechanics with dialogue.
